Housing: Waiting List

What does it mean to be on a housing waiting list and is it possible to not have housing if your still on the waiting list by the beginning of the semester? Anyone been in this pickle before?
Im a transfer student btw, so it might be a different story....

I would try to find alternate housing…consider the waitlist as a “no.”

Look elsewhere. Housing isn’t something to wait around for.

What do you mean look elsewhere?

Find off-campus housing.

Ohh that makes sense. I also heard from a little birdie, that if they cannot provide on campus housing, that they will set them up with a hotel that is not too far from campus. Do other colleges do that too?

Do they guarantee first year housing? If so, they might do that, if not, you may end up SOL. Best way to find out is to call them up and find out.

Definitely find an off campus alternative. You can probably call and find out about off campus options too.

What is SOL?

s*** out of luck lol

Ohhhhh hahahahah yeahh they won’t tell me where i am on the list (in the beginning middle or end). They told me thats how they give out housing and they are currently housing people right now. So if i know where i am on the list, then i will know if i am getting housing or not.

Better to lose a housing deposit somewhere than lose out on going to school because you have no where to live.

Yeah don’t wait, you can’t not have a place to live. Find something else.

Find out from your housing office what exactly the waitlist means. My own college guarantees housing to all students. Some students need to be waitlisted while arrangements are finalized but eventually everyone gets a bed.

If housing is not guaranteed, I agree with the above posters that you should start looking for off-campus housing.
