What’s the chance I’ll get Jester if I still haven’t received my dorm assignment?

Worse than normal because you will probably get a supplemental room.

In which dorm would the supplemental room be in? Is there any chance I’ll be assigned to Jester later on?

Later on as in next year/semester, sure. Unless someone cancels at the last minute or moves out during the year for whatever reason you can’t get into a room.

Almost all the dorms have supplemental. Jester for sure. I am not sure about the others.

comiclover - i live here right now too and you’re absolutely wrong - not sure what planet you are on but the co-ops are much worse than the private dorms - whether that be Castilian, Dobie or Towers probably. And, the food at Castilian is BY FAR the best food of any of the dorms – on or off campus. Dude, you need to check yourself.

Okay, I said that most of those co-ops suck so CHILL OUT. And it’s not like it matters, they are all full. 21st is horrible and run down and the ICC ones are crappy houses. What more you do want? The ones that I have direct experience with (Halstead, Laurel and Nueces. They are fairly new, btw.) are better than the private dorms and cost half as much for the same thing. Besides, co-ops are better for people who like smaller communities so someone might like them better than the private dorms, its a matter of opinion.

The Castilian food is horrible to me right now. Maybe I had a bad experience, IDK. I still have dine in dollars so I don’t eat there anymore. My roommate eats there everyday, says its not so great in comparison to other places. It’s just food. GOD. I’m sure they can figure out for themselves if they like it or not. I don’t. You have your opinion I have mine.

And the Towers apartments are nice, but the hallways are bad. I can’t say anything about food because I don’t know.

You need to chill. I wasn’t even talking to you I was telling the kid interested in co-ops.

Jesus, people are always picking fights over nothing.

Longhorndude has a reputation for his dubious praises about the Castilian; many of his posts consist of him lauding the facility.

Longhorndude, I thought you lived at the Castilian.

I kinda feel sorry for him. I had the best meal at Littlefield Cafe yesterday and he’s stuck eating at the Castilian.

“the food at Castilian is BY FAR the best food of any of the dorms” A month ago I was debating between Dobie & Castilian and I chose Castilian mainly because of the food (really hope it better be good). I personally liked Dobie suites vs. Castilian’s small rooms but food was my concern (no I am not fat at all but I plan on eating a lot since I got unlimited plan…bulkin up workin out & studying lol). Oh and btw, Towers had the nicest dorm rooms (loved em) but when I read about the noise and party atmosphere, I had to let it go.

“I am at the Castilian right now. Hate it. The food sucks, a lot.” You better not be kidding or lying or whatever there is aside from truth. I picked Castilian just because of that & internet (but that wasn’t a huge issue). Are you used to eating 4-5 star food? Could you expand on your taste & eating habits if you don’t mind.

“Jesus, people are always picking fights over nothing.” This is so damn true. Currently, I am at the Business Forum and on every single post, someone is arguing. Its ridiculous!

Okay. As I said. It’s a matter of opinion. The times I went this summer, there were not a lot of things to choose from. Maybe we went too late or maybe too early? Idk. It didn’t taste bad or anything just not as great.

If you search ‘castilian food’ in this forum I’m not the only one who says its not great. Ask theloneranger about it.

I am not picky about what I eat and I’m not a vegetarian/vegan or whatever.

And I eat at places of better quality off campus but my friends aren’t here to go with me so I’ve been bouncing from Jester, Littlefield Cafe and The Castilian. And I still have 500 dine in dollars left from last year.

So far the internet has gone out twice for my roommate, and once for me for an entire day. Otherwise it’s been fine. I don’t really see much of a difference in speed. The only good thing is you don’t have to pay to get it in your room and wireless actually works at a functional level in comparison to UT dorm internet.

Nxt, did you actually eat at the Castilian? I hope you did not pick it just because of the site.

I’m only here for one summer session because it was the cheapest thing I could get for one month. Also I am still mad at the Castilian for screwing up my move-in.

“Its ridiculous!”

IKR. It’s just food. Lighten up guys.

No comiclover, I didn’t had a chance to eat at the Castilian since I was only there for a day and the cafeteria was closed. I am also not a vegetarian but my only two concerns for picking Castilian was Food & Internet. I had heard from lots of people that amongst off campus dorms, Castilian’s food is great (Could it be that the food sucked b/c it was during the summer while you stayed?) Sorry to hear about the screw up; I’ll be happy with an on-time move in.

I’ve already signed the contract but not sure how much the fine would be if I break it (damn me b/c I signed it for a full year). I think I’ll be stay in for the fall semester and see if I like it. If not, I’ll move to Dobie.

I am planning on buying Apogee service at Castilian but not sure if Dobie has a similar service. I am on the internet most of the time either working or reading blogs so that is important to me wherever I dorm.

I havent eaten at the other two off campus dorms so it could be the best out of the three.

And yes everything is kinda sucking because it’s summer right now. Kins is closed and Jester has closed off some things.

I’m sure everything would be better in the Fall since there would be more people and stuff.

I wouldn’t move. No matter where you live you are going to be stuck with whatever meal plan that place has.

I applied for housing in mid may. do i have a better chance than most on getting housing?

There’s no way I’m staying in a room with 3 other girls, so should I start looking into private dorms?

dudes, chill out – seriously – when you eat ANYWHERE all the time the food gets boring – NXT , you made the right choice with Castilian. Although there are times (especially sumemr when they are feeding boatloads of camp kids) when food is not so good, during the year you’ll see that that food there is better than anywhere nearby – on a regular basis anyways. And yes i lived there last year, this summer, and I’ll be back for the coming year too. thought about an apt in west campus but the food is the biggest reason for me to pick a dorm year 2.

“There’s no way I’m staying in a room with 3 other girls, so should I start looking into private dorms?”

Not just private dorms, apartments as well but stick to West Campus. Do not limit yourself to just three places.

I believe that is the first intelligent thing longhorndude has said so far. lol jkjkjk.

Well I’ve just been assigned a supplemental room in San Jacinto. It’s kind of ridiculous how I still have to pay the extra $2000 when I’m not really getting all the benefits.
