Housing?!?!?!

How many years of housing did people get? How do they decide amount of guaranteed housing years?

oh and p.s. i got four years!!

Yeah. I received 4 years of housing too congrats!

congrats on housing and acceptance!

My son received 4 years of housing as well. I thought only those that were invited into the Honors Program received 4 years of housing. My son was not invited as far as we can tell. I think I might call on Monday and ask. Is everyone going to the accepted student day in January?

I thought it was for honors students and athletes? I did not get accepted to the honors college either like your son.

I was also guaranteed at least three years of housing. Does that mean that I am not eligible for four years? I’m not sure I understand this aspect of the admission process haha.

4 years of housing goes to honors, athletes, and those with a lot of financial need. If you only get three, you can apply for 4 sophomore year (sometimes a fourth year is granted, sometimes not). That being said, many people enjoy living junior year off campus and people with 4 years even choose to live off with their friends. If you plan on studying abroad for at least one semester, then with 3 years of housing that means you’ll only have to spend one semester in an apartment/house off campus. It’s really not bad at all.

So since I didn’t get accepted to the honors college or recruited as an athlete, should i expect alot of financial aid? Because that would be really nice!

No, not necessarily. And actually, people outside those categories get 4 years as well. It’s really not a simple “if you are A, B, or C, you get four years” formula. Typically students in the top ~15% also get 4 years of housing, even if they are not in the honors program.

P.S. There’s no “honors college”. It’s a program, aka you take one class each semester that’s your “honors class” and it fulfills your theology and philosophy core requirements. And this one class is 6 credits, so you only take 4 classes each semester.

Yeah I got 4 years guaranteed housing. I’m not an athlete recruit nd I haven’t submitted my CSS/FAFSA yet. I’m in an honors program? o_0

Ok, 50% of students get 4 years, 50% get 3 years. You may not belong to ANY of the aforementioned categories and still get 4 years. They just make sure to give 4 years to certain people for one added incentive to come or to make things easier for them. You could have randomly gotten 4 years as well!

I received four years of housing (but no honors program)!

I also received 4 years of housing, but I was accepted to the honors program. According to the booklet BC sent in my letter about half of all freshman applicants are given 4 years of housing.

4 years! I’m not an athlete, honors kid or in need of massive finaid, so my assumption was just that they gave out the 4 years to more EA kids and gave more RD kids 3 years. Either way, I’m happy to have the option to live on campus all 4 years!
