Ok, I know we are super late in completing our housing contract but we were not sure if she was going to live on or off campus. Our # is in the 6000's.... What are the chances of getting a suite style dorm? Anyone with a prior # in this area last year that can share what was their assigned room?

Pretty much, you’re going to get only community style dorms. Even housing will tell you that the only option for a suite style room would be Salley, which even in the 6000s range is extremely unlikely.

She’s likely going to get in either Smith, Kellum, Deviney, or Dorman. It’s pretty much 95% that is the case.

Pretty much the only way she’s going to get a suite-style dorm at this point is to be in an LLC. http://housing.fsu.edu/livlearnsteps.html

So are all community style dorms the same or is there a better one?

Smith and Kellum will have the smallest rooms. I’ve been in a Smith room, and it was tiny. I hear that it’s a lot of fun, though. If I had to choose one, it’d be Deviney (carpeted floors, bigger room, near the library, etc), but with her number she will likely end up in Smith or Kellum. Apply for an LLC; I did that and was able to get into a suite-style dorm.

What exactly is an LLC?

It’s a Living Learning Community. You take classes within your dorm building as part of the community. And since you are guaranteed a spot in the building in which the LLC is housed, it’s a great way for someone with a bad priority number to get a great housing assignment.

There’s a lot of information available about LLCs on the LLC page on the FSU Housing website:
