My DD is totally sold on Mizzou (we both fell in love with it on visit in summer) and is so worried that I may miss a deadline for housing. Recall that DS could submit deposit really early for his school options to ensure good choice. I just want to make sure that this is not the case with Mizzou, she's more definite in her choice than he was at this time. Also she has a good friend who has it as her close 2nd, if they want to room together any tips on how to work that would be appreciated.

“The Housing and Dining Contract is typically available in late March or early April. Specific dates are provided in early spring through the website links to the left and through our publications. This is an essential step - you cannot go any further in the process without submitting your contract!”

Thank you bigbooklover - I do have the Contract on my to watch for list but thought that March/April date seemed a little far off. Other schools already have contracts to submit, which made me wonder if there wasn’t a “preliminary” form.

BTW - how cold do dorms get?? From So California and we keep pointing out the weather to DD - “I’ll survive.” Luckily cousin from Buffalo has offered her some of her smaller cold weather clothes, LOL ;)

socal2bama…I am also from southern California so I know what you are talking about. It is January 6th and 75 degrees during the day…I went to school today in shorts and a t-shirt.

Yeah, my daughter spent several days this vacation going to the beach, too cold for her to go in the water but they did enjoy sunning. Her Buffalo cousin died seeing her instagram photos.

I believe Shurz is one of the traditional dorms, right? I know that’s what she actually wants, glad she wants to help us keep costs down being OOS. Glad rooms have their own thermostat and 74 is more than warm enough for bedrooms.

MSMDAD - thanks for the reminder about the bathrooms. Actually I think she’s more interested in not having to clean bathrooms for all those weeks than saving us money. LOL

Mu has been out for the snow yesterday. Today the high is 10 degrees with a windchill of -18. You can feel the effects of frostbite in this weather within 30 minutes if the skin is not covered. This is extreme, but we have been having this since December so stock up on gloves, boots, and a warm coat and hat.
I think if both girls list each other as intended roommate for same dorm choices they will be good.

socal2bama – Mizzou IS a great place! My son has wanted to go there for years, and we have been there many times (only 3 hrs away). However, another amazing state flagship school (University of Alabama), offered much more automatic merit and so it looks like that is where he is headed. (But I would LOVE for him to be going to Mizzou!) Best wishes!

How funny amy9998 - her brother graduates from Alabama this year (those scholarships have been a blessing). She fell in love with Bama on a family weekend visit junior year - learned what she wanted was a tradition, spirited school. Visited Missouri last summer, loved it – when we visited Bama again this year she started seeing Mizzou as more suited for her. They have to find where they feel more at home. I hope your son is as happy at Bama as my son has been. Let me know if you have any questions.
