Hey guys! I just received my housing assignment and I'll be living in Albright. Can any current or former Smithies tell me more about the house? What are the doubles like? Does it have air conditioning (I've heard that Baldwin does)? Is there a strong sense of community, or does everyone sort of do their own thing? I'm transferring in from another college, but this will be my first time living on a residential campus so I'm not really sure what to expect. Thanks for your help!

Hi! I’m a rising sophomore in Albright, and it’s an amazing house. We have a great community, one of the best on campus, I’d say! People are very close and a large percentage attend house events. But if you don’t want to attend or prefer to do your own thing nobody will judge you for it. Our HR (Head Resident) is also great, we love her. People are very welcoming, and extremely enthusiastic about our house.

As for the rooms, there is no air conditioning, and I think this applies to most Smith houses. A few houses currently have air conditioning because it’s summer and the heat is unbearable this year, but by the time classes begin it should be much better, and air conditioning wouldn’t be necessary (a fan is, though). The doubles are pretty big, there are only 2 “small” ones, but even those are significantly larger than any room at most colleges. And most rooms have huge closets, some large enough for a person to sleep in, haha.

Oh, and the location is great. We have a dining hall across the street, and it’s admittedly not the best one on campus, but it’s pretty decent. Academic buildings are mostly a 5-7 minute walk from Albright, with the art building being closest. We have a dining hall across the street, and two others that are just an extra minute away. It’s also very close to town.

Overall, I think it’s a great house, and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do! If you have any questions feel free to ask!
