HOUSING!

Hi guys,

I’m headed to SDSU in the fall and I’m curious about housing. I want to live in the best possible dorm, so I’m planning on submitting the housing app ASAP. I will be majoring in political science with a possible minor in history and/or business, am very interested in joining the Honors College later on, and consider myself a studious yet outgoing person. I am also looking into Greek life. I love to party, but that’s not what college is all about for me. I want to challenge myself socially and intellectually at SDSU and would like to implement the uber cliche work hard/play hard modus operandi into my life. That being said, which dorm(s) combine an awesome social experience, a clean and relatively nice atmosphere, decent living standards, and are the most convenient? Money is absolutely not a factor, as I am in-state.

Thank you!

@mdorbust - Incoming freshmen are randomly assigned to dorms, unless they will be living in Honors or in another Residential/Living Learning Community, or need special accommodations. And, even for those in Honors and RLCs/LLCs…their particular dorm locations can change from year to year. This is done in part to purposely avoid having students try to live in a specific dorm.

How do students get roommates? I don’t have facebook so I’m not a part of the accepted students groups or anything…does SDSU pair us with them randomly? @Fish125

@mdorbust - There is a section in the application where you will answer personal questions about interests, habits, etc. They will use the answers to make roommate assignments. I’m a parent of a current student, and with my kid, he was matched with someone who had similar interests.

My son is a 2nd year and he was also randomly matched with a roommate his first year. You can request a roommate by both of you entering your SDSU Red ID# on the housing application. My son got along great with his randomly assigned roommate and they continue to be good friends even though both moved off campus to different apartments.

@Gumbymom how did your son enjoy SDSU?

@mdorbust: He loves SDSU. He recently pledged a Fraternity, has made a ton of friends, loves the campus/the people, finding the academics challenging for CS but overall is really having a great time.

Housing always runs out if you don’t get your deposit in soon, so beware off campus rents!

@Gumbymom That’s great to hear! :slight_smile:

@“aunt bea” ahh! I’ll try to get the deposit in ASAP then! Thank you!
