Housing

Hey y’all, I was just wondering about housing. I applied on April 10 which I know is pretty late. I just want to know if I have a good chance of getting a dorm.

Does your status say you are still on a wait list for housing? A friend of mine’s son did his housing mid Feb when he found he was admitted Blinn Team and his housing just recently went from wait list to permanent housing. She still has no idea where that will be. It is likely you will not be on campus but a thin change you might.

Where do I check my status?

And are my chances really that slim? I don’t mind which dorm I get as long as I live on campus.

@TAMU20 You have decent chances; by your name I assume you are a freshman, and y’all have priority over everyone else, so that gives you a boost. If you are offered housing, it will probably be between mid-May to mid-June; it may not be the best dorm however, but I know you said you don’t mind.

I was mistaken about where to find your housing status but a quick google search found where to do that.
https://reslife.tamu.edu/onlineServices It should tell you on the left side of the page.My sons portal doesn’t say priority but the email he received did. You can also secure your NSC room via this portal. You can choose to live in the dorm with others for the NSC (which mine son is doing) or stay at a hotel. Both my older kids stayed with the students for their orientations and had a great time.

Have you received the letter giving your your UIN and set up your Net ID?

He completed his housing contract Nov. 6 and the housing email came March 21. Priority and Permanent mean the same thing. Guaranteed housing means temporary housing.
Being a freshman, they will really try to get you on campus. You may have a temporary space before moving into permanent. As happened to some friends kids 3 years ago, they were housed in off campus university apartments and had must as much of a blast.

However, do log onto your Howdy Portal and get familiar with the contents of the tabs. It is your dashboard for all things TAMU from class schedule to dropping classes, changes to your contact info, parking stickers, grades, Bursar, etc.

Also log into your AIS (applicant information system). At the bottom of the page, there is a check list of things you need to do for New student conference, parking for NSC, Math placement, activate Tamu student email etc. https://applicant.tamu.edu/
