I’m going to be coming in as a business major and am not sure which housing would be best for me. The East Quads has the learning community for business majors, but it is also an apartment style. Since I am going to be coming in not really knowing anyone, I kind of wanted to live in a suite-style dorm so I had a roommate and more of an open-door style housing. I was also looking into Patterson. Does anyone who has gone through this/is a parent of someone who did have any information/tips? Should I choose the business community over wanting a suite-style dorm?
My son lived in West Quad last year as a freshman. Same apartment style as East Quad. While the layout of unit is impressive, he and his roommates all regretted living there. It literally was apartment style where everyone kept their doors closed so there was no getting to meet others on the same floor or even next door. They would occasionally do quad floor activities and only a handful (at most) of residents would show up. We were all so disappointed because we thought living in a Quad community would be great for meeting other students but he and his roommates all felt exactly the same. Living in a dorm with open doors best way to meet new friends. Patterson is a beautiful dorm. You will meet other business students through classes at DMSB and business clubs but best to live in a dorm where you can meet new friends. Good luck!
Edit to my original post: I just found out that I have been invited to be a Capstone Scholar. Does anyone have any information on what the housing is like in Capstone and what the social life is like also? Thanks for all the help!!

I got in last night as well!
I think Capstone is housed in the Capstone and Columbia dorms.
@scessayhelp Most Capstone scholars are in the Capstone and Columbia dorms. My daughter is a capstone this year, but she’s in the women’s quad. As for social life, Capstone actually requires a social like. You have to attend at least 1 social event to stay in Capstone beyond Sohpmore year. The social events usually occurs in the Capstone/Columbia dorm area too.
My daughter love love loves living in Capstone! She 10/10 recommends it. Very social dorm. She joined a sorority in the fall but primarily hangs out with friends she’s made in the dorm. It is known to be a very fun place! Also the largest rooms on campus–maybe outdated and older, but very spacious. They may even be renovating this summer–I know they plan to do it soon.
Something I will add–in Capstone, like Honors, you are living in a dorm full of like-minded kids as far as wanting to keep their grades up. These are the work hard/play hard kids from what I can tell, but my daughter’s friends all do extremely well in their classes even though they have a lot of fun! Lots of support as far as finding buddies to study with or friends giving you space because you’ve got a big exam. Everyone seems to be on the same page.
