I was filling out the housing app for UNC the other day, and it asks for preferences on where to live, but I have no idea which are the best dorms. Anyone have any input on this?
Thanks

not to be mean, but if people aren't exactly forthcoming, that would be the reason.

in all honesty, you're probably going to end up on south campus. try to get one fo the directional dorms (ehaus south, craige north, etc)

There are a wide variety of dorms at UNC...the newest dorms are on South Campus near the Ramshead (athletic and dining facility) and they are Craige North, Ehringhaus South, Horton and Hinden....and the newly renovated Morrison. (Check out eadad's link to read about the nifty renovations at Morrison.) There are also some older (60's) dorms on South Campus which most people agree aren't that nice, but are very social. Middle and North campus have the older dorms (some 1950s, some 1930s...some as old as 1700s). I've heard people love this area because it's close to classes, the libraries and Franklin Street. There really are positives and negatives about any place you choose to live on campus. Some will trade the central air and modern amenities for a good location...others like the luxury and don't mind being located near the medical center and the stadium.

Have you checked out the housing link at unc.edu? This may help you. Since they have started spreading freshman out across campus, you'll fit in and make friends regardless of the dorm you choose.
