when should we send in info? I don't want to be stuck in a room without AC (I hate hot weather).

Also what are the best places to stay for a freshman? Thanks

Coming from a current frosh, request HoJo / Craige / Ehaus. They're the worst dorms, but you will definitely meet people.

what about teague or carmichael?

teague doesn't have elevators (i don't think), and carmichael's closing down next year. middle campus is nice, though.

try to get directional dorms! its really not hard to meet people, even if you're in hall-style rooms.

what are directional dorms???

The old dorms like craige, hojo, ehaus also have newer dorms in there communites like n craige, s ehaus, and i think the hojo one is called horton. The directional ones are nicer and newer and have a/c, but I think they are hall style.

Only two of the directionals actually have a direction in their name anymore. But they are four most recently constructed dorms...Craige North in the Craige Community, Horton in the HJ community, Hardin in the Morrison Community and Ehringhaus South in the Ehringhaus Community. I think they are about 4 or 5 years old, decent sized rooms, have a/c and suite style bathrooms. (The bathrooms actually remind me of a health club bathroom/locker room for some reason.) There are kitchens on some of the floors and study rooms/quiet zones on most. All in all, much better than accommodations back in the 'olden days' when I attended college.

My d lives in Craige North, likes it enough and opted to recontract her room for her sophomore year. Quite a few of her friends are also opting to stay.
