Housing

Has anyone sent in their housing deposits yet? What was your order of choices and why? It seems as if Christiana Towers is really far from the hub of things (from the map). Is it easy to get around, or are the buses not worth waiting for. The campus did not seem terribly huge when we visited, definitely walkable...but then we did not go as far as the Towers.

Are all of the buildings equally sociable; are some known to be noisy, etc. and are any in less safe locations?

Starting next year all freshmen will be placed in residence halls based on their majors, so it is unlikely that students will get their first choice. The towers are not that far away. I am living there next year, and it is about a 10 minute walk to campus with the new bridge.

I was assigned to Dickinson B. How far is that from the main campus? Are the dorm rooms as bad as they say?????????????

Dickinson is a VERY short walk from the music buildings and pretty close to Purnell, Kirkbride, etc. I'd say maybe a 7 or 10 minute walk to the buildings on the green. It's reasonable. Dorm life is really what you make of it, but overall, sorry, a lot of the time you do get tiny, cramped rooms that aren't in the best of shape. But it's a rite of passage and makes for a good bonding experience w/your floormates.
