ive heard that as a freshman its always better to stay on campus to get a feel of things and stuff.. do u guys agree with that.. or u think its okay if i like stay off campus and then shift in a semester or two..

hi, i applied for housing in september but i didn't send in my housing contract and $300 deposit until a few days ago. So, what's the chances I'll be able to still get honors housing (my first choice)?

There are cheap options off-campus--NOT Dobie, Castillian, Villas or Quarters. Those are WAY more than you have to pay. You can live in West Campus, right next to these places for much less. If you have roommates, you can easily pay less than $500/month. If you live alone, you can pay about $600/$700.

All you have to do is go to an apartment finder and tell them your upper limit. If they know you will NOT pay more than $500/month but you do want to live in West Campus, they'll find you a place. It might be really crappy, but you'll have a roof over your head. I found a place on 22nd and Pearl for $475 a month, living by myself. It's tiny, but it's cheap.

The dorms are way overpriced, but for your first year, when you have no idea what's going on, they may be a good option. The meal plan is also helpful--for people without cars, it's impossible to go grocery shopping, so the caf is your best option.

thanks UTSenior..

Is it too late to get a room at the Towers?

When will we found out what dorm we're in?

Last year, housing assignments letters were dated July 11.

BTW, if you don't already have a roommate in mind, check out the roommate matching site.

You might try the co-ops...
