Housing

My daughter got her housing assignment and she is on the 5th floor of Hadley. Isn't that an upper class dorm? What is the dorm like?

It might be, due to Middlebury's over enrollment this year.

Hadley is usually an upper class dorm. It's very nice, and close to Bicentennial Hall (which is a huge plus). It also has great sunset views. Some photos are here:

<a href="http://www.middlebury.edu/campuslife/commons/ross/facilities/%5B/url%5D">http://www.middlebury.edu/campuslife/commons/ross/facilities/</a></p>

I suspect that FreeFree is correct. Middlebury's first-year class is overenrolled by nearly 100 students (due to a large increase in yield), so they're placing freshmen in upper class dorms. Lucky for her!!!

I don't know about Midd's overenrollment, but it's not unheard of for freshman to be placed in dorms that aren't typically for freshman. As has been said already, Hadley's great--very close to Milliken, where many fellow freshmen will be, and in the same building as Ross dining hall, laundry facilities, and a small gym. So--no worries!

From what I heard at the end of the year, the freshman housing in Ross is being totally reworked to accommodate the overenrollment. I'd say your daughter can count herself lucky; Hadley definitely will be nicer than most freshman housing.

actually Hadley is the official freshmen dorm this year for Ross Commons along with some kids in Kelly

i too am on the 5th floor of Hadley, but i got a single!

Yes, Hadley is now the Freshmen Dorm in Ross, and Miliken is now upperclassmen housing, which is a fact quite a few juniors are unhappy about.

what do you bring for the Hadley dorm? do you need underbed storage? are the beds lofts, bunks, or just regular dorm beds?

What is Allen in Atwater commons like?

shoshi - Allen is pretty much the best (though I'm biased, 'cause I lived there last year). Seriously though, it beats out Battell and Stew easily... Hadley I'm not really familiar with. But still, you should be glad to be in Allen. The rooms are bigger than Battell, and were renovated more recently. Just nicer overall and right next to the dining hall.
