All right guys, I'm from Florida, so I don't know many people to ask questions about Penn State to, so I figured I'd ask the minds of CC.

I've been accepted, do I apply for housing and choose a specific dorm (similar to the FLA schools)? Or, do I just pay my $300 dollars for admission, housing and do they assign me to a random dorm?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've been accepted to Eberly, and I have a question about housing. People in the forum are talking about sending in a housing deposit as early as possible because it can help reserve better living arrangements. I'm not sure if Penn State is where I want to go yet, but I received the Acceptance Notification letter in the folder that they sent. On it, it seems that you have to sign it and agree that you "choose to commit to Penn State University in the semester, campus and academic college/major indicated." Is it possible to send in your housing deposit without committing to Penn State? I'm also not exactly sure of my major either, I'm just leaning towards it. Can I change that before I accept?

You can pay the money now so you get good housing. If, later on, you decide PSU is not for you, you can call them up and get some of your money back. I believe you can get 200 out of the 300 back (I can't remember). You don't really apply for a major until the spring of your sophomore year. You can choose whatever major you want right now, but it's not official until you have filled out a major request form, meet the requirements, and have it approved.

As for major also know that you can only take certain classes if you're in certain colleges (like some classes only students in the college of engineering can take)

lil_killer129, what about the letter of acceptance? Do I sign that and send it in? Or can I just send the deposit under my name?

CH121S: Yeah, because I'm deciding between the Eberly College and then the College of Engineering. I put Eberly College on my application because I was leaning in that direction, but I'm not completely sure. Is it still possible to change later on?

taav_2 there was a form letter in the acceptance package that had a "new" account number on it that you need to put on your check. So I read it that you needed to send in the signed acceptance letter and the check with the new account number on it. It also said you can accept on-line, I think 10 days after the letter, but you still needed to send the check. In other words, no MC or VISA.
