a question-do you walk to the campus from the upper rez's or do you take the subway? If you walk how long does it take? it seems pretty far from the map of the residences that is posted on the website and I couldn't be sure.

is there any real difference between Mconnell and Gardner?

McConnell = single-sex wings. Gardner = co-ed wings.

You walk to campus from upper rez. There's no bus or subway.

how many minutes does the walk take?
is it longer from the walk from the new rez?

It takes me 15 minutes to get from McConnell to the chemistry building (Otto Maas), and that's downhill. I think it takes me around 15-20 minutes to get from RVC to McConnell (that's up-hill). I honestly don't know how long it takes to campus (aka the Milton gates) from New Rez, I imagine it's somewhere between 10-15 minutes, though.

thank you!

why isn't anyone mentionning rvc? I think it is a nice option for the girls. Is it isolated from the rest of the residences?

I think I'm going to choose Greenbriar as my first choice. I'm not sure if I want a single room or share it with someone...

I talked to some RVC girls at McGill's open house and they all told me not to choose that one. Worst meal plan or something?

I'm really interested in the MORE houses but never got a chance to see them... though the youtube video tours help out. Apparently they have the best house parties and are usually fully of artsy people? Has anyone visited? is it close to campus?

I think I'd also like the upper rez's, esp Molson or Gardner; as well as Douglas.. though I hear Douglas kids are kind of secluded.

New Rez was really nice but I think I'd get sick of it quick. Their piano is niiiice, but it's a bit far, priciest, and most rooms are double :S

i think Gardner is better i been to there few times.

New Rez is closer to campus

Hi Guys,

I’m just got admitted to McGill and now I’m choosing/ranking residences. I’m kinda interested in the Greenbriar campus, since it’s close to the campus, I can have my own kitchen, and plus i heard we can easily get to everywhere in Montreal. However, I have some questions.
- in your opinion, is the security at Greenbriar high?
- what type of people, in general, usually live at this residence? is it the party type? the study type? the geeky type? the Artist type? the conservative type? the ‘do-nothing’ type (like… just let the days pass without doing anything fun or interesting)?
- I dont think there’s many facilities at this residence. So, is it possible that I can find a good gym, music center, theater, studio, etc. somewhere near Greenbriar, or at least somewhere near McGill campus?

Also, where can I find information about costs of different residences? I’m not sure if Greenbriar is very much cheaper compared to a well facilitated residence, say… New Rez.

Thanks for your help. Really appreciate it.
