Does anyone know how housing requests for ED applicants work? Are requests honored on a first come/ first serve basis or are they random? For about 1400 kids, do you think there's a pretty good chance that a person will receive their top choice? Thanks.

Its not a first come/first serve basis, I'm pretty sure NYU will have enough housing for everyone unless they over accept people.

Also, what do you mean by top choice? Freshmen at NYU are in all freshmen dorms, but don't get to pick the dorm they want, only the upper classmen do.

CEM, I don't know any E.D. freshman who didn't get their first choice dorm.

Birch, E.D. kids get to specify which particular dorm they want. It's one of the perqs of applying Early Decision. R.D. kids only get to choose between traditional style dorm and apartment style. So yes, freshmen DO get to choose which dorm, if they're E.D.

You really like to remind RDers that they can't choose where to live I've noticed....

Congrats on your powers of observation, lycrem. :) It wasn't a case of reminding ABirch, he/she obviously didn't know. I was simply stating the facts. Sorry if that offends you for some reason.
