njaznpremed: we’re grateful for your sympathies! lol
It’s strange, but it seems like everyone who got screwed over got into Hill. Maybe they had a ridiculously low number of applicants this year, and because of that they had to force some of us there.

Well I’m "stuck in Hill too. But I’m sure it won’t be bad. Cheer up!! We will all know each other well.

Yeah I was annoyed at first that I got Hill, but I think it will be amazing. We will go through it together. Just stick it out and we will have the BEST YEAR EVER!!!

Hey Njaznpremed
i got king’s court/english too (2nd to last choice). i filled up all the choices haha so it wasn’t entirely unexpected. haha at least hill has a social life. i’ve heard from friends living at kc last year the scene there wasn’t that great.

i got my first choice! wareeeeee!

i wouldnt mind being in hill. i would rather be in hill than the other places besides the quad because of the sense of community

Am I the only one who actually likes the housing system? We don’t have our own campus like say freshmen at Duke do, but we still have three options that are mostly freshmen (Quad, Hill, Kings Court), and I kind of like having my own little sub-identity within my class since we’re all sort of divided into smaller housing communities. I’ve also heard that the upperclassmen living in places like Hill are there because they love it so much and want to help out the freshmen, so I actually prefer that the housing is never strictly freshmen-only.

Maybe I’m just happy because I got my first choice in the Quad, haha.

i got kings court double… first choice!

Don’t worry so much about whether you got your particular dorm choices. The dorms are only a few blocks apart from each other and–more importantly–you’ll all still be AT PENN! You’ll have plenty of time to visit each other’s dorms, and you’ll probably soon find that you actually spend less time in your dorm room than you originally anticipated.

Remember folks: BIG PICTURE. And IT’S ALL GOOD! :)

45 Percenter, always to the rescue. ;)

(Bunch of whiney little GENERATION ME’ers!)

Just Kidding! :p

Mencius: Yeah, I think you’re right about the social scene unfortunately…but that can also be a good thing in terms of studying, etc. In essence, you can choose when you want to hang out (just go the Quad I guess). The rooms themselves are a sort of consolation as they’re pretty nice apparently.

How much time does the average Penn student spend in a dorm room?

I’m not looking for figures, but an idea of how much the room matters. I don’t literally want an average, just like a breakdown of the day or something

Oh, any floor 4 Hill people?

hey I got into a Triple and I’m kind of worried b/c I have the middle room…Can anyone tell me what it’s like?? I’m worried I won’t have much privacy coz my roommates have to pass through my room to get out which I think will be annoying… I mean what if I’m sleeping and they barge through my room with ppl??

yeee 4th floor hill represent

Sugar Magnolia: I completely agree. I LOVE Penn’s housing system. I looked at the housing systems for all my schools and they mostly clumped freshman together. I actually didn’t like that. At Penn, if you want to be with other freshmen, you know you want the quad. If you want to be with upperclassmen, you want high-rises. Each college house has its own flavor, which is also nice.

I’m happy about Harnwell because I wasn’t looking forward to the traditional college dorm scene. I like that you have so many options.

Hill people: don’t worry. you have air conditioning in the building, just not in your rooms.

hill double-6th choice. itll be fine i suppose :P

All of you folks who are disappointed about being assigned to Hill should read through this old thread (if you haven’t already done so):

Hill has LOTS of pluses, so be of good cheer!

Got into my third choice, Riepe- double room. My first two choices were triple in the quad and after hearing abotu the low percentages of triple in the quad I am actually really glad that I still managed to get my thirs choice in the quad. Anyone else in Riepe?
