I don’t know. Hopefully social people who got “stuck” with singles will request a room change to a double, so you can switch.

Yeah, I thought they meant that TBA would be assigned by Monday, wow, sorry for your delay.

Dear Incoming First-Year Student:

As we approach Friday, we wanted to touch base with a few reminders and things to keep in mind.

We have a very large incoming first-year class for 2009-2010. We are excited for the diversity and experience that a large class brings, and we are working to transfer these same qualities into each community within our first-year residence halls. As we create these communities, please know:

• We will post assignments to your MyHousing page - https://myhousing.emory.edu - on Friday of this week, no later than 5:00 p.m. We understand that you are anxious to know your housing information but please be patient as we work to post this information accurately. If you do not see a specific room assignment or TBA assignment by Monday, June 15, please email us at housinghelp@learnlink.emory.edu. Due to privacy issues, we will not be releasing assignment details via email or over the phone.

If you do not see a specific room assignment or TBA assignment by Monday, June 15

See, I DID get my assignment (TBA) so I still have to wait by the end of the month.

I just want to know why I got TBA. That’s all I need right now.

LOL…ROFL…I like the stigma attached with a single dorm as being “anti social”…No its more because I study at random times, like I will wake up from sleeping at 4 in the morning and decide to study for an hour…and then I would fall back asleep, only to wake up again at 6 to remember I have homework left that I need to do…I don’t think ANY roommate would like that…hahaha funny sterotype for people with single dorms…

^Yeah, I’m anemic and get tired easily so I sleep a lot and at random times… which means I’m up and about at random times, like you.

hilsa:

I’m positive it’s just a computer matching thing, or in your case, non-matching. The computer in the sky (or more likely basement) just takes all the inputs (gender, smoking, other substances, sleeping preferences, other?) and your preferences and tries to make assignments until it runs out of rooms and/or matches.

If I read correctly, the date of the app only matters for the theme housing.

btw: can I ask a perhaps silly question. Since Orientation is not until Aug 22, what’s the rush? (My son’s college doesn’t announce Frosh room assignments until the end of July and no one seemed to be “anxious” (Housing’s term, not mine) at that school…

bby, that’s what I assumed as well. But that means I’m going to end up with a roommate, if they did that and couldn’t find a match (after going back and looking at my roommate lifestyle preferences, it seems a person that matches my selections well is very unlikely). Oh well. =/

Well, I got into the themed housing (Citizenship). I will be staying in New Turman. I also got a single. One of my friends I met during Essence of Emory applied for theme housing and a single and he got stuck in Harris with a roommate.

Sorry to hear about that Hillary.

^^^ vandyprayer, did you fill out any of the preferences about your roommate when you applied for a single…because I didn’t fill out any of the preferences, because I thought I was going to get a single anyway, so I didn’t need to fill that part out…did your friend fill out any of the preferences for a roommate.

I guess I’ll just accept whatever room I get, though I really did want a single.

My boyfriend has a single, so it’ll be okay. I’ll just room with him. lololololol

Well, I have one friend in TX who is a scholar. He didn’t get into the new dorms nor did he get what he requested (a single).

I have another in FL who requested a single from themed housing, and all he got was themed housing and a double. He also listed a double as his second choice anyway.

I did fill out the roommate preferences, just in case I didn’t get what I asked for.

By the way, an odd numbered room means you have a single.

Do you think that has a relation to why my TBA number is odd, VandyPrayer?

^^^ vandyprayer, not true…my room is odd number but its a double…I have a roommate…

That applies for Themed Housing.
Sorry.

Does TBA mean that you’re not going to get those special themed housing?

oh…yah I just looked at my hall and it was all doubles…

VandyPrayer, i think you’re wrong. I’m in Evans (theme housing), my room number is odd, and the room is a double.

LOL. I’m checking the New Turman Group on Facebook and I think the odd numbers thing only applies to New Turman.

Alright:

IF YOU GOT AN ODD NUMBER IN NEW TURMAN THEN YOU HAVE A SINGLE.

For New Turman, one side of the floor is singles and the other doubles. That rule doesn’t apply to any other dorms. I believe that Few, Evans, and Harris are the only other buildings with singles? I’m pretty sure that Dobbs, McTyeire, Trimble, and Complex don’t have singles. Obviously, I didn’t live in all these buildings, so please correct me if I’m wrong. Hopefully this info is useful for those still waiting to hear.
