housing

Are there apartments on campus for upperclassmen or graduate students? Or are dorm the only options on campus and to get an apartment they have to look outside?

Dorms are the only options on campus, although it is my understanding that there are several houses that are available on campus as well. But if you want something not a dorm, looking in Red Hook, Tivoli, and if you can swing a bit more money, Rhinebeck are the places to look.

The dorms at Bard are pretty diverse. I went back for my reunion a few weeks ago and was again impressed by the range of Dormitory living. I stayed in several dorms when at Bard and they all have different styles Once you get there and spend some timeyou will feel out your preference for on or off campus housing.

Does Rhineback have some nice apartment complexes? Where close to Bard can I find some nice apartments, not like houses to rent. Money is not an issue.

nyak10 - Red Hook and Tivoli are on the Bard shuttle loop so many students live there. Also, look at Germantown. As for apartments - have you been to the area? It’s almost all houses. I’m sure you could find a room in a house sharing with others - but it’s not really apartment country. You’re unlikely to find the kind of city apartment complex with underground parking, gyms and pools - if that’s what you have in mind.

Must be nice! :-)

thanks Spirit manager, that was actually what I was looking for… oh well, ill try to find something, thanks.

Hi nyak–

Tivoli Gardens is a condominium complex in Tivoli, about 8 minutes’ drive to campus. w/d dryer in the units, picnic tables, but no pool or clubhouse. Listings generally pop up on craigslist. You can use the Bard shuttle.

Down in Poughkeepsie (45 minute drive), there are a few complexes that have what you’re looking for in terms of amenities. And they utilize superfluous "u"s in their names to heighten the pretentiousness: [Hudson Harbour Apartments for rent at Poughkeepsie, NY - Solomon Organization](http://www.solomonorg.com/property.php?id=46&from=nav)

Lakeshore Villas in Port Ewen might also fit the bill. Around 20 minutes to campus:

Finally, these guys specialize in Bard-area real estate. Most of it will be cottages and houses, but they also rent flats in gentrifying sections of Hudson and Catskill: [Gary DiMauro Real Estate | Hudson Valley Real Estate | Tivoli NY | Hudson NY | Catskill NY |](<a href=“Homes for Sale | Four Seasons Sotheby's International Realty”>http://garydimauro.com/)

Thank you so much. I can’t tell you how helpful that was.
