How about a student with a less-than-3.0 GPA??

Crewmom, his GPA actually went up, then down, then up again Jr. year. (They have 3 trimesters.) I can’t remember where the 2.94 came from when I was writing in Feb.! I don’t think I actually had his transcript, or it was an older one. Anyway, last year (I don’t have the transcript here) it went from something like 2.9, to 2.4, to 2.84 in the last trimester. Long story but he had a difficult year academically (obviously) and was diagnosed with ADD in the spring, and new meds helped the grades go up by the end of the year. Speaking of which, does anyone think it’s helpful/harmful to bring up the ADD in the application?

I do wish we could have Emerson say (if it’s true) “Listen, you will never get in here” so then he could apply ED to Hampshire! (His friend with the lower GPA got into Hampshire ED, which I assume helped.)

How does community college sound?

Yes, Alfred University has program called “Expanded Media”

[School of Art and Design at Alfred University](http://art.alfred.edu/divisions_concentrations/expandedmedia.html)

That might be something for your S to look into.
