How accurate are the score ranges given by the Blue Book Practice Tests?

Theres a pretty large range they give you, is your actual SAT score in the middle of that range, on the lower or higher end? Do a lot of people score out of the range given by the practice tests

I took the march test, and the math scores were completely out of range, (2 wrong -40). It changes by tests.

For me, the BB scores were completely out of range. I was scoring 2100 to 2250s on practice tests, and got a 1930 on the real thing.

A CC user somehow obtained/made a scaled score guide for the last four tests in the blue book....as in exact scores, not ranges. I don't have it on my comp anymore, but if I can dig up his username I'll post it...

P.S. My real SAT ended up being the EXACT average of the 2 tests that I scored. Crazy right?

EDIT: PM me for his e-mail if you want it.

^that is crazy, mine was like 150 points less (2140)

I just take the low point of the range...

I dunno, my range is between 2100-2300, but on my PSAT I got a 201...

Just as a bit of explanation: The "blue book" is made up of real SAT questions; however, the tests in the book were never actually given. The older book, "10 Real SATs", also by the CollegeBoard, did have actual given tests; quite a few problems in that book were used again in the blue book, mixed in among problems given on other real tests. Each given real test has its own conversion table from raw to cooked (200-800) score. So, your blue book cooked scores can only be estimated.

Again, CC really needs a FAQ. This question comes up very often. I created conversion tables that are valid for Tests 4 through 8. E-mail me for a copy (no PMs, please).

Is it just me or were the BB tests insanely easy? I took the Barron's diagnostic a few months ago and got 1650...really bad compared to my PSAT of 1900 (considering i took the PSAT 3 months before that!) Then took a BB test recently and got around 2100. I'm sure my score went up (compared to my PSAT) due to studying, but I was definitely not expecting to go up THAT much.

^ If I'm not mistaken, the Barron's tests are way harder than the real thing.

So the BB book is a lot easier than the actual test? Now that worries me. Is this true? English and Math?

I don't think it's way easier. Maybe a little bit, but not much. Probably the reason most scores go down on the actual test dates is because of other factors. Nerves, being sleepy, etc.

Blue Book versus official SATs: the CR sections are generally somewhat easier, the Math sections are of roughly the same difficulty, and the Writing sections are generally somewhat easier.

well the ranges can be up to 260 pts in the blue book.

i was getting 2070-2330s and i was pretty happy.
i ended up getting a 2240.

I agree with Butternut; in my case, I would predict my scores to be slightly lower than BB tests due to nerves. I get major test anxiety, and I bet I'm going to be SO nervous that day. (hopefully not though!)
