Some of the materials in the sample tests were not covered in the book..
How accurate are the sample tests in here for Biology M?

I’m wondering the same thing. I read through the Barrons stuff and it has a lot of the stuff I am currently learning in AP. I made a few careless mistakes in the Sample Tests though =[

anyone???

Barrons was alright for Bio, only don’t take more than 2 of the Barrons tests since the questions seem to be recycled from test to test. It gets easier and it no longer becomes as useful very quickly. I advise Sparknotes, which are the best option in my opinion. PR was okay, but it mainly had one insanely difficult test and one relatively easy test…not a really good indicator of where you’re at.

nice title by the way

hahaha dareallycoolguy0 was it you that asked how inaccurate is barrons for chem?

sparknotes seemed a lot harder for some reason… no?

True, Sparknotes was a little bit on the hard side. But it certainly has much more test like questions than the other books. If you have the time, maybe you can go to a bookstore sometime over the weekend and take an official test (from collegeboard). It looks just like the other blue book for the SAT I, except it has practice subject tests for every subject being tested. Compare the tests, maybe also with a Barron’s test as well for future reference. See which test you find to be the closest.

However, from what I have seen in the Barrons tests, they aren’t really all that great. Which is why I am not sure whether or not I should use it for Chem too :)

i have a copy of the practice test from the CB book, and yeah they do seem a bit different from the barrons questions… and lol this weekend IS my test so the bookstore option is out for me =/ i thought about taking chem as well since im taking a chem class at school, but my teacher doesnt teach enough materials thoroughly enough for me to take the sat II test… but good luck to you dareallycoolguy0 :]

so, anybody elseeee?

I used this book last year during my freshman year to score a 730 with only a regular bio class. It’s the BEST for BIO, but in my opinion the WORST for CHEM

shaheiruddin, were you getting low scores on the barrons practice tests? compared to what you got on the real exam?

i used the 2008 edition
barrons diagonostic: 690
barrons practice test #1: 640
barrons practice test #2: 680

oh okay, what do you suggest i focus on?

You should look through the questions that you missed, and study carefully the sections that you are having the most trouble with. If they all relate to a certain category (such as plants), you should study that. An alternative would be to reread the review section of Barrons, paying special attention to facts that seem to show up or that look important based on the Sparknotes practice tests. I find that going over mistakes will usually help me avoid the same mistakes the second time.

“good luck to you dareallycoolguy0” Oh, and thanks! Good luck to you on your exam this Saturday too!

thanks!! :]
