Greeting CC, how accurate have your experiences with the chances predictor on parchment.com been?

Marginal. The only schools that have enough data points to be reliable are also the schools that rely least on GPA and test scores.

Take it with a grain of salt as it can not factor in letters of recommendation or the quality of your essays or other intangible factors.

Not very accurate. Don’t depend on it at all. Just compare your scores and consider your recommendations and ECs.

Depends on the type of school – for the big publics – Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin etc, pretty accurate. For LACs and top 20 privates, not at all useful.

Although my kids’ school does not have Naviance, we hear from other schools that it is quite accurate and useful.

Pretty accurate, even the top 25 schools from USNews. Son was accepted to the schools where parchment ranked his chances to be high. Waitlisted on the ones that he had lower chances. I was impressed.
