How accurately did your PSAT predict your SAT?

@italianboarder: I think it was a mix of both. I took a few practice tests and my average was probably high-220's. But this leads to another question: If I had such a good PSAT, but it took a bit of luck (I guessed on two questions =P), should I bother retaking the SAT if I score a 2200? Or should I accept that that score is in my average range?

226 -> 2290

PSAT much lower. I think that the PSAT score forced DS to take the SAT prep more seriously.

I only studied for the PSAT the day before by taking a practice test. I got a 203.
I only studies for the SAT 1 the first time by taking like 2 practice tests, and I got a 2090. I guess it can be fairly accurate.
The second time I took the SAT, I only ended up studying by taking one practice test before (and went trick-or-treating the night before--I hear relaxing/having fun is a good way to ready yourself for it) and got a 2220.
I don't know if I could have done better if I'd studied more or taken it more times, but I'm a little annoyed, because I only got 2 answers wrong out of 50something on the math section, and I only got a 740. Also, the first time it took the SAT, i think i screwed up somehow on the english section, because i always get the mc part perfect, but my score for that was only 70/80 on that test (but 80/80 on the second).

I think the SAT is stupid though. You probably can't do well on it if you're not relatively intelligent, but I know some really smart people who really aren't well represented by their scores. A lot of really intelligent people's chances of getting into top schools are hurt by this.

sophmore PSAT: 178
junior PSAT: 188
junior SAT: 1980

I'll be taking it again in June and I'm assuming the 8 trend will continue so I'll probably get a 2080. :-/

Junior PSAT: 217
Junior SAT:2200
[only took SAT once]

usually scores go up a few from PSAT, I think it's a combination of people not caring AS much about the PSAT & the way the bell curve works for scoring the SAT...more people take it...but that's just my opinion

haha that is so funny^ exact same score jump. but i'm retaking to get math higher haha.

Junior PSAT: 234
Junior SAT: 2370

took PSAT after taking 2 practice tests.
and junior SAT after about 9-10 hours of CR-W tutoring

so i'm done!!!!!!!!!!
woooot!

Soph PSAT: 202
Junior PSAT: 206
SAT: 2240

:)

I actually improved a lot surprisingly. It really depends on how much you study.
Sophomore PSAT: 203 :(
Junior PSAT: 218 77 CR, 73 W, 68 M
Junior SAT
CR: 800
M: 800
W: 750
Total: 2350
But I studied a lot between the PSAT and SAT, so if you study you can bring it up a lot :)

uncannily close. No studying for either one.

really off, by like 200 points. Sophomore-217 PSAT, junior-215, 2350 SAT (1st try).

I think normally you plus 9 on your PSAT is your SAT score

OP: How did you get a 240 on Junior year PSAT but then get a 2030 on your SAT? ...this doesn't really make sense. :P

In my case:

Soph PSAT - 220
Junior PSAT - 232
SAT (only time, summer after junior year) - 2330

The PSAT was a pretty accurate predictor in my case, I think.

167 PSAT
2100 SAT

so ya......430 points different
haha

Sophomore PSAT: 198
Junior PSAT: 210

SAT: 2080

I am waiting for the April 7th results. I am hoping to break 2100. Actually, that WAS my goal - but on test day I felt REALLY good so I'm hoping I can get a 2150 super-scored. I prepped for everything (even the PSATs). I recommend McGraw Hill SAT 2009 and Barron's SAT 2009.

PSAT junior: 195
SAT: 2250

only 300 points off lol

PSAT: 164 (something like that)
SAT: 1960

I took a course in between.

Sophomore PSAT: 213
Junior PSAT: 222
Junior SAT: 2240
Junior SAT take 2: I will know April 7...

psat: 219
SAT: 2260
