How advantageous is being hispanic?

<p>Hey guys! First of all, I want to clarify that this is NOT meant to spark a war over AA. I simply wanted to know how it would affect my chances for UF this Fall.
I am aware that I probably won't get in :S
Male
Hispanic (Both mother and father immigrants from South America)
In-state
SAT: 2020 (superscore) 650 CR, 660 math, 710 writing.
ACT: 29....Disappointed, but hey it was my first time..probably not gonna submit.
GPA & Class Rank: (This is where I really fall short)
UW - 3.07
W - 4.12
UF GPA - Don't know
CR: 330/1000
Service Hours: 284, pretty much all of them working with children.
Essay: I'd rate it an 8/10 in strength, I feel very confident with it.
I've taken AP Psych, AP Human Geo, AP Government / Economics, and AP European History. Other than that my courses have all been Honors. (Yes, I know, weak courseload) I'm applying with a Sociology major.
My EC's at school are alright, I'm in 3-4 clubs and played Varsity Lacrosse for 3 years. Most of my extracurricular is outside of school in volunteering.
I worked at Walgreens as a Service Clerk basically my whole junior year, and now I work at McDonald's.
Any tips or advice?
Thanks so much.</p>

<p>University of Florida?</p>

<p>[University</a> of Florida - Common Data Set](<a href=“http://www.ir.ufl.edu/OIRApps/commondataset/c_ftic_admission.aspx]University”>University of Florida - Common Data Set)</p>

<p>Scroll about 2/3 page down, where you’d see “Freshmen Profile”. Make an assessment for yourself.</p>

<p>Not big on Chances, but the Hispanic Students forum (Admissions; Specialty Topics) has lots of information about fly-ins, scholarships, etc.</p>
