How am I Doing so Far? (HS Junior, would be awesome if you helped me!)

Hi everyone,

I’d like to ask you help me with telling how I’m doing so far, as a high school junior. Personally, I don’t think I’m doing that bad, but I probably could do better. I go to a vocatonal school, and am in a medical program, where I take college classes and earn credit if I pass the final. I’m thinking of majoring in biomedical engineering with a minor in education. (might change my major to physical therapy or computer science, not completely sure yet)

Current GPA: (as of end of sophomore year)
91.266 (our school does not do it on a 4.0 scale)

Course Rigor/Load

  • Being in a vocational school, all my classes are honors (once you get accepted into the school, it is understood that you’re taking honor classes)
  • Taking Spanish III right now. At my school, spanish is required for 2 years, then you can either take an AP or continue Spanish. I chose to continue Spanish, but I will be able to take more APs as a senior
  • I have taken/ am taking med college classes: Dynamics of Healthcare, Scientific Principles of Nutrition, Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology I, EKG Interpretation & Exercise Prescription, Physical Therapy
  • Current courses: Eng III, Physics, Math Analysis (Precalc), Fitness, US Hist II, Physical Therapy, A & P I

Extracurriculars

  • Robotics
Been involved since freshmen year, held an officer position for 2 years
  • HOSA (Health Occupations for Students of America) Been involved since freshmen year, did not compete because of conflict with schedule & family stuff, but I currently hold a officer position
  • Science Olympiad Been involved since freshmen year, no officer position, have never placed (making top 6) but I have never fallen below top 15 in any of my events
  • Girls Who Code Just started this year, helped alongside a friend to found it (not really a founder though) and am a current member
  • National Honor Society Wasn't sure if this counted as an extracurricular, but put it down anyways lol

I am still involved in all my clubs. I do not participate in any sports

Volunteer Work:

  • Volunteered at a hospital, food bank, and student ambassador for school

PSAT/SAT

  • Just took the SAT like 2 weeks ago, awaiting scores. I think I did better in writing and reading than math
  • I’m taking the PSAT 10/28, but my sophomore year score was a 143

I’m not a good test taker in general, I start losing concentration after doing so many problems and sitting in a chair for so long (I’m an active person and I have to stretch myself like every 30 mins- 1hr)

So yeah. That’s my 3 years of high school in a nutshell (minus the drama and other stuff :P). Some of the schools I’d really like to get accepted into are Johns Hopkins University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Princeton Universitym Brown University.

How am I doing?

Thanks!

Unless your SAT is about 700 points higher than your PSAT would suggest, your odds at JHU/Princeton/Brown are practically nil. I really don’t like your odds at BU or Northeastern either, barring a 500-point jump. I’d suggest you look beyond these “brand-name” schools at some more realistic options.
