How am I doing so far?

Hey, I am currently a rising junior and Indiana University is my number 1 choice so far. So I was wondering if I am doing alright so far, in being able to get into IU. By the way, my counselor is able to explain to colleges why I have a downwards grade trend in 10th grade. Thanks.

I am also out of state, and I want to major in business (finance or accounting).

You're in, easily. Make sure you do well on your ACT and SAT for a good IU Faculty Award, as that's basically the only award for OOSers.

Thanks for the reply, how much do they usually give you in the IU Faculty Award???

It really varies, and I don't know what they use. Basically, test scores are big. I got 6K with a 3.65 and a 29 ACT (took 2 AP courses and 5 AC courses) at the end of Junior year. Others got 7K with a better SAT/ACT. Awards range from 1K-7K per year.

I really don't see why you're concerned

Thanks. Also, is anyone familiar with the school, CUNY Baruch College? Because Indiana and Baruch are probably my top two schools right now.

I know it's in New York, it isn't nearly as highly ranked in business as IU, it isn't nearly as highly ranked overall as IU, and it doesn't provide the college experience that IU does. Besides that, I don't know anything about it.

I just decided not to take AP US History, it seems like a waste of time.

Do you think the lack of honors courses and AP classes will have a negative impact???

Sweetie, this is Indiana. They accept you if you have above a 3.0. You don't need to worry. And scholarships are essentially determined by your ACT/SAT score which you don't need to worry about for another year.

Thanks. By the way, do you know what the earliest possible day/month is to apply to IU?

I looked briefly through the website, but all I could find is that they have rolling admissions and will review your application as soon as received beginning in early fall of your senior year. You could probably email admissions to find out more.
