I'm a sophomore at a competitive public school in MA. While I realize it's way too early to approximate my chances at ANY school, I'd be interested in hearing your guys' feedback on how I'm doing so far.

My freshmen year GPA was 3.8. I'm taking 1 AP class this year (World History) and 4 Honors classes. I'll most likely be taking 2 APs next year (US History and Geography) and 3 senior year (Spanish, Psych, and Euro History). I'm more of a humanities student - I really enjoy English, modern history, languages, and psych - although I do fairly well in math and science classes, as well. I'm taking the PSAT for the first time this fall.

As far as extracurriculars go - I've been horseback riding since I was 7 years old, and I will definitely continue with it throughout high school and beyond. I have a close, informal relationship with my instructor/barn owner, so none of this is really official, but I help out with barn work, management, and riding lessons, volunteer through the barn at local farm fairs (mostly with pony rides), etc. I'm very involved with my barn, where I've been since I started riding. I hope to make teaching riding lessons a steady summer job. I compete locally, and will (hopefully!) compete at my area championships next summer.

I've been taking piano lessons since I was 5, and recently have started guitar lessons. I love music of all kinds, and I want to learn other instruments (mandolin and bass guitar, mostly) soon. Music is mostly something I do for me - I'm not in the school band or anything like that - but I really enjoy it, and it's definitely a large part of my life.

Other EC's - I'm on the yearbook staff (will probably be a section editor next year), and will definitely continue with that throughout high school. I'm also in Amnesty International, Spanish Club, and Music Club. Our school doesn't really offer leadership positions to freshmen or sophomores, but I hope to take on some leadership positions in the next 2 years.

I volunteer at a local therapeutic riding program, mostly helping the instructors teach riding lessons to mentally and physically disabled kids. It's incredibly interesting and worthwhile - honestly, getting 'hours' for school credit is just a perk, I would work there even without the credit.

So far, my top choice school is Vassar. I'm also interested in Brown (my dad went there), Oberlin, and Skidmore. Despite the fact that sophomore year is too early to determine chances, especially without PSAT/SAT scores, how do you all think I'm doing? Any suggestions on how to improve?
