only a true bro could poast from an iphone

The iPhone, like most other smartphones, are a scam.

And how do you know I don’t have any iPhone?

The world doesn’t revolve around you just because you’re a spoiled, rich kid.

"where do you go to school? There’s no way it’s that cheap. "

Case. No one’s dues are more than $800/yr.

We consider dues what we pay nationals.

It’s $2,000/yr for a meal plan.

$7,500 to live in the house.

…or $1144/mo. for 9 months. Someone’s making some money off this.

good point, i’m gonna go live in a cardboard box so no one can ever make any money off of me

There is another place that is (likely) free: your parents’ house*. No shame in living there.

But seriously; the idea is that the thing sounds overpriced for what one is getting. I live on roughly that amount, 20% savings included, and do much better than that.

*if your circumstance is such that this proposal may be considered a faux-pas, please disregard.

How do you know I’m a spoiled rich kid?

1: Your arrogance saying that you were superior because you have an iPhone. Your comment: “If you had an iPhone you would understand.”

2: You not denying that you are a spoiled rich kid.

3: This is what you stated earlier: “Are you serious? $2K is insanely cheap. My frat has dues of a little over $5K. I guess that’s the price you pay to live in a mansion with your best buds.”

$2K is not insancely cheap. You live in a mansion. You can take it from there.

The reason I can afford the nice things that I have is because I have a job. My parents aren’t paying a cent for my education. I worked hard to where I’m at right now since I’m collecting money just going to class from the DMVA and ARNG. I know that I will graduate debt free from one of the best schools in the nation. I will have a great job coming out of college. Some day I may be your boss.

I guess some people have a problem with winners.

You should’ve known before you pledged that you would have to pay money. I really don’t think any of those guys are cool enough for you to get into more debt for.

And you know you will have a great job because?

Some people don’t quite seem to get that fraternities aren’t about living in a house.

It’s a structured group of people who are close-knit and do things together. You need money to do things, and a fraternity needs money to do things. The fees are just your portion when everyone “chips in.”

Making living in a mansion feasible is part of the fraternity dues (keep in mind that usually 30-50 people live there, not just 5). In fact, at most fraternities, you can be a member but choose not to live at the house. Eg. for me, I still prefer my own room in a small apartment because it allows me to close my door and work all night in privacy when I need it.
