I have orientation next week on the 10th. This year as a senior in highschool, I took 4 AP classes. I have not received the scores yet. How will I know whether or not I need to take these classes again at Maryland when I have not received my ap scores yet?

help me! tehe

I suppose just go with how you felt about the class/test and whether or not you think you have mastered the material. If you can accurately asess yourself, the test score should only be a mere confirmation of that.

Well, Maryland finds out your AP scores long before you do…many of us have kids who found out their AP scores on Testudo. So, depending on when your orientation is, that may help.

Also, you get credit at Maryland for 3, 4 or 5 on APs…so chances are if you felt you did well on an AP exam, you probably will get credit for it.

And, you can always change your classes over the summer or during the first two weeks of fall semester.

Ah, I had that exact same problem last week.

It depends on which adviser you get. Some will put you in the upper level class if you are fairly confident that you passed with a 4 or 5. My adviser put me in the lower level class even though I’m pretty sure I got a 5 on my test because it’s easier to bump up then to try to switch into a lower level course. I have to wait for my scores to go on Testudo and then I call them to redo my entire schedule, which is a severe pain in the butt.

I thought this might a problem… that’s why I signed up for the July 15 orientation. Hopefully there will still be a good selection of classes haha.

Centh:
Wait they already have my scores? I want to see them they are not on testudo yet. Orientation is in 3 days

They’ll have them at about the time that they are available by phone, or a couple of days before. You’ll be able to save yourself $$ by going into Testudo and looking at your transcript, which is where you could find them. As Amy points out, it depends on the adviser you get (and the specific AP course you’re waiting for) as to how they handle it at registration.

You could just not sign up for those classes if you think you did well, and if it turns out you didn’t get the credit just take them in the Spring Semester. You can only take 5 or 6 classes in the fall anyway. Depending on which AP’s you took this may be a little hard but you could always sign up anyway if you really want to take that subject in the Fall and not the Spring and then just switch it if you find out you got the credit.

The adviser might not do anything. I barely got any advising today, and I was in a small group. And I had no clue what to do.

What college are you in, bornin92?

For me they only let you sign up for classes for which you were eligible for. When you receive your ap scores later you can change your classes at home yourself.

Also, will I be able to see my AP scores on the unofficial transcript page on testudo a little earlier? Thanks.

When exactly do you take department placement exams? I would like to place out of some of the introductory programming courses next year…

The only score I was worried about was AP Calc. Initially, I was going to just sign up for Math 140 for fall semester, but my advisor said to just take Business Statistics in the fall and see “later” about calc.

I’m glad I did! Now I’m planning to self-review Calc and take the CLEP exam in the fall to get credit rather than take the whole 8AM class all over again.

Rarely 3s, really.

This is true. However, sections fill up fast. I’m guessing it’s best to have your schedule set ASAP if you’re a freshman, or else you might get screwed over later with filled sections. It’d be best to avoid this scenario as much as you can.

Seltzer, yes, that is where they will show up. They’ll be there at least when the scores are available via phone (is that July 1 this year)?, but may be out there a bit earlier than that. Just keep checking.

The colleges get the Ap scores before we do. By orientation you should be able to know what you got and create a schedule from that

I just did orientation so we didn’t have our scores yet. Pretty much they just asked you to put down how you felt you did and went off of that, and if you ended up getting credit for a class once you got scores in July you could go back on your own and drop/add classes to fit that. For example, I’m signed up for a math class that I can drop in July if I get the AP Calc credit I’m hoping for.

When are the scores supposed to appear on the unofficial transcript? They have not yet appeared, so I called the CB and payed the $. Now I wish I used the $ on lunch instead…

I’m wondering the same thing too - I was under the impression that they would have the scores by now. I went ahead and registered for the class I want to be in (Calc III) because I also called in and got a 5 on the relevant tests. They say they will drop it from your schedule if you do that, but I have yet to have that happen after two days…

I don’t see the scores on my transcript. Does that mean that none of my exam scores qualified? ):
