I have been studying for my Biology clip for about 2 months now and I have been steadily scoring a 55% on them and a in the low 60s about three times but never a 70. I know that you need a 50 to pass but then their are all of these different calculations like its between 20-80 and some people online are saying that you need a 70-80 raw score to pass the test. My test required score is 50 but thats in clep points so am I prepared for the test by scoring a 55 every day?
Only worry about the score that your university requires for a passing score. It has nothing to do with what CLEP posts on their website in regards to passing scores and amount of credit awarded. Your university has the ultimate say.
Also realize that the score you receive after completing your exam is NOT a percentage - it is a scaled score. All CLEP exams fall between 20-80 (receive a 20 if you answer all questions incorrectly; receive an 80 if you answer all correctly). The system is set up to know how many scored questions you must answer correctly to be awarded a score of 50. You do know that not all questions on your test are scored, right?
Anyway, a score of 50 is supposed to equate to the work of a ‘C’ student (so you can see why this would not be a 50%).
