okay while i was trying to see my chances for some of the schools i'm thinking about applying to, i realized for those students who take 0 periods (classes that usually start around 7'o clock in the morning), if GPAs are simply calculated by dividing the total sum of points you get for getting grades (All A's except for 1 B in band..in my case) by how many classes you take, the way GPAs are calculated is unfair. becuase for those top students who barely get any B's in their classes, the advantage of getting 1 extra point for taking an AP class or honor class is 1/8 which is 0.125 when they have zero periods, and 1/7 (about 0.145) when they don't. say two students have taken exactly the same AP classes and got the same grades but one is in band and the other isn't. in this case, the former taking only 7 classes has a higher GPA even tho he didn't do anything that should put him before than the latter..i'm the latter..and because of this, its most likely that i'm not going to be the valedictorian at my school...don't you guys think this is a little unfair?
