how are GPA's rounded?

i've done some calculations and say i have a gpa of 2.99666666

where is this rounded? would it be a 3.0?

could be a 2.997. depends...

Well if the requirement for something is 3.0, then you have met it. If the requirement for something is 3.00, then you have met it. If the requirement for something is 3.000, you have not met it.

To express your GPA as 3.0, 3.00 or 2.997 would all be truthful statements in your case.

However if your institution has an explicitly stated rounding policy that dictates the number of decimal places to be used, then you should use their format.
