How are GPA's weighted?

I knoow this is kinda off topic, but I didn't see anywhere else I could put this.

How do UC's weight GPA's? A "B" in an AP class will be weighted as an "A", correct? So if you have 3 AP classes and 3 normal classes, and get all B's in the AP classes and all A's in the regular classes your GPA will still be 4.0?

That's true, but if you got all A's in the AP classes and B's in the normal classes you would still have a 4.0. I think.

Getting an A in an AP class would be weighted as a 5.0. That's why some people have weighted GPAs over 4 or 4.5, depending on the scale.

In my school a 4 in an Ap class is only 4.5

wait, this is why everyone's gpa seems to be sooo much higher than mine! my school also adds only 0.5 to AP classes. do colleges know about this? i'm sure they would have to!

How do the UC colleges calculate your GPA? Something about 8 semesters? It would be much better for me if they weighed ALL my APs and courses I have taken at my local community college... I heard something about the UCs switching their system(hoax?)

yes, our school only adds .25 to the honors/ ap classes when they "weight" our grades

but i believe most colleges get yourr unweighted scores and weight them with their own ways?
