So I guess this isn't really a chance thread, but I just want to get a feeler out there. I know that it's hard to say without writing everything, but I'm still not particularly sure what schools I want to apply to yet, so I just wanted to know how overly ambitious I am or am not being.

SAT super score: 2200 (680 CR/770 Math/750 Writing)
GPA UW: 3.58
GPA W: 3.99

Cornell U
NYU Stern
UMich
UVA
UNC-Chapel Hill
UWisconsin-Madison
Boston U
Northeastern U
UMD-College Park

Other schools I have considered are Ohio St, Penn St, and UIllinois-Urbana Champaign

I am looking to major in business, most likely Finance, so if there are other schools that I should consider, please let me know. This may not belong in this forum, but I'm not sure which forum to post it in, so I'll just go with it. Thanks.

Safeties: UMD, Ohio State, BU

Matches: Penn State, UIUC, Northeastern, UW, UMich (high match)

Rest are Reaches. Knowing your home state would help. If youre in-state for UVA or UNC, that would make either one a match. Amazing scores, average GPA. I’m in a similar situation, you just have a better score

Lol and I’m looking at the same major (Finance).

Your uw GPA is way too low for UMich. Your SAT. composite score is good, but your CR score is below average. It is reach for you.

Going off of what @billcsho said, it would help to know your best non-superscored SAT, being that many of your schools do not look at superscore.

Thanks for the replies. lol @collegeeager let’s hope we both get into our reaches :)

Also, I’m from NJ, so unfortunately, I don’t get any help there for UVA and UNC. My non-superscored SATs are pretty poor, so I was planning on taking the ACT in September.

Just wondering though, would good extra-curriculars/essays/all the other stuff help me out for any of those reaches?

For UVA and UNC

My list is similar to yours. You are not being overly ambitious. However, your GPA is really low to be competitive at the top schools. Since you are in NJ (me too!) you should keep Rutgers or TCNJ as safeties both financially and academically. Penn state, Boston U, and Maryland are matches. Ohio state is probably a safety for you, though. The rest are reaches. Idk about Wisconsin or Illinois.

@2percent ECs would help but you would need more competitive scores in order for admissions to see them. Im taking the SATs again in October, aiming for a 2100+ (my best so far is 2030). I think something similar would help you, or for the ACTs a 32+. Also, apply EA or ED to a few of your reaches to help your chances.

Yeah, I plan on applying EA to any school that offers it. Also, do you think I have a shot at USC? I’m not sure how hard it is for East Coasters to get into Cali schools.
