How difficult is getting accepted in UCSD?
What are the requirements to get in?
Is UCSD a good university?!
I want to major in either Biology or Biochemistry and I know that UCSD is big on science majors...that's why I want to go there. Plus, I love the campus! =)

How are my chances of getting accepted to UCSD?

Chances are not good. GPA is very low, and you'll need to get in the 27-29 range on your ACT. EC's aren't horrid, but test scores and GPA will make it very difficult. Good luck though.

Very unlikely. Your courseload is alright, if a little easy. Your ECs are decent, nothing outstanding, but not bad. Your ACT score is really damaging, and even a 25 is pretty bad. Your AP exams are especially damaging, as they show the college that either your school is not very challenging and practices grade inflation, or you are a hardworker and a grade grubber, but don't understand the material. The GPA similarly is pretty bad, considering you are taking so many hard classes. Colleges will wonder why you are obviously pushing yourself so hard when you can't get a majority of As.

How difficult is getting accepted in UCSD?
UCSD becomes more and more selective each year, and is currently the third most selective of the nine undergraduate UC campuses. For 2008, there were 47,407 applicants and 40.1% - or 19,010 - were accepted. The average UC GPA was 4.07 and the average ACT score was 28. University of California - Admissions

Is UCSD a good university?!
Yes, UCSD is a "good" university, and has a particular reputation in the sciences.

Do you think I can get accepted to UCSD?!
Looking at the detailed admit rate chart http://www.universityofcalifornia.ed...ucsd_chart.pdf , there are some students fitting your profile admitted, but UCSD should be considered a reach and you should include other schools on your list. If you are a California resident and UC eligible, you are guaranteed a place at a UC campus - but not necessarily one of your choice. Consider adding UCSB, UCD and/or UCI as your possibilities and UCSC, UCR and/or UCM as your likelies.

Its going to be a reach
Your going to have to push those SAT, ACT, SAT2, and the essays.
I know people who were in your position in some way and got into UCSD so you still have a small chance of getting in

UCSD is a very good university (though the social life is suspect), but it's honestly going to be a high reach for you. ECs are decent, not great. The GPA and test scores are what's going to hurt you very bad. Are you in-state?

you might get in if you are considered "disadvantaged." my friend got in with a very low SAT score and average GPA just because of her essays and her disadvantaged status.
