How are my chances of transferring affected if I have an F?

Hello. I was wondering how my chances of transferring will be affected with an F on my transcript.

I have gone to two CC's. I attempted 49 units and received an overall 2.18 GPA. I was going through some personal issues at the time so I dropped out after I received an F.

Two years later, I enrolled at another CC. I have attempted 50.5 units with an overall 3.34 GPA. I will have two AA's degrees after spring semester.

I want to transfer to SDSU or CSULB, so what is my next step? Should I retake the class with an F or just leave it? I screwed up majorly early on and I'm worried about my financial aid eligibility being waived if I exceed the maximum number of units attempted. I also contacted the first CC about academic renewal and it applies to the entire semester. I'm not trying to retake a GE class that I have already passed. I need some advise.

Thanks in advance.

If you are local to either school, they may take as you are. If you are from out of their local service area, you’ll need to meet a higher standard. I’d call or visit admissions, transcript in hand and ask what you can do.
