Well , I applied to Harvard , Williams , Princeton , Duke and Stanford.

I just wanted to know what are my chances of getting admitted to any of the above colleges.

I apologize for the length of my post but I hope to recieve a brutally honest response from all of you!

The ECs are decent, but to tell you the truth, you've got to have a lot more than that to explain the lackluster SATs. Sorry to say your chances of getting admitted at any of those places are slim (you asked for brutal honesty). That having been said, you're welcome to try.

I'm just curious: prizes from excellence in English in 9,11th and then CR = 560 and W = 650? Try looking through other threads in this site, you'll see my point.

srrinath is right. You need to either retake your SAT I and bring your scores up quite a bit (2200/2400 at least for these schools) or apply to less academically competitive schools.

American students with perfect test grades and test scores and comparable ECs know that if they apply to these schools know that they still have only a slim chance of getting in to any of them so they apply to at least a few 'match' schools (schools that they have a good chance of getting into) and a 'safety' or two (schools that they almost certainly will get into). Your list has no match schools and no safeties at all.

Your SAT and Physics scores will keep you out of the race.. Unless as jhl said there's something really outstanding in you that you haven't mentioned..!!...

And if from India.. it will only detoriate your chances..

Well.. I also applied to Northeastern , Oberlin , UMass Amherst and Ohio Wesleyan University..

Also , my rec's from my princiapl and teacher's and academic transcripts are really good. I am among the top 10% in my class and my application shows this.
I also forgot to mention my drama/theatre activities. I was also adjudjed the 'Best Actor' for my school play in a prestigious inter school Drama competition in the region. Plus , I have written and directed many skits and plays at school. I know its not much but I mentioned it anyways!

Heck! I should have seen this coming...Can anyone please recommend me any other college where I can still apply?

I am really confused now..The colleges surely won't take their decision only on my SAT scores? I mean..Not even one college on my list?? Sorry , but I feel really low..My SAT scores have truly 'killed' me!

PS:- When the colleges send in the admission results will they give a reason as to why the applicant didn't get admitted(Though i already know what the reason is!) or is it a standardized reply?

You cannot blame the SAT scores.. most Indians will score 780-800 in SAT1 Math, while as many will score 750+ in SAT physics.. you know what I mean..

Sometimes the adcoms don't even know why they want to take one applicant over the other.. let alone why they want to reject someone.. they don't have time for.. hmm.. he is __ so I reject him..

Yup!I understand what you mean!Looks like I get the award for being the 'Indian black sheep' in CC. Am i the only bloke around here getting SAT 2 scores in the range of 500-550 or are there other pathetic souls like me?

But , my transcript contradicts my SAT scores. In my secondary school report I have a 90+ in Science & Technology and a 84 in Math. Its not much but will the colleges take this into consideration?

If I were you.. I'll look for a couple of SAT optional colleges with Jan 15/ Feb deadlines (not many of them, if there's any.. start a thread to ask?).. and try to get into IITs..

ps:- I am not preparing for IIT. But I will write it and hope to hell that whatever I learnt in the last 2 yrs will help me..(sounds far fetched I know!)
