How are our college kids doing?

This article by a UNH student has a simple graphic that may be helpful in gauging how you or your college student are doing.

Make sure you or your student know how to get help if they need it.

The article is unrelated to the tragedies on and near college campuses this week, but those have added to our daily worries immeasurably. Check on your college students and take care of yourself.

Thanks for sharing, this graphic is very good and will hopefully be useful to people. One of my kids’ schools had a student die by suicide a few weeks ago, and it affects the whole community. Even those of us who didn’t know the student or family intensely feel the distress and loss.

I don’t understand the recommended strategy of “Check in on your substance use” for those who are classified as okay and struggling; are they talking about alcohol and illegal drugs?

The graphic is directed towards college students. Monitoring increases in using/misusing alcohol or drugs is recommended as it can be a sign of more going on in an individuals life or impact other parts of their functioning.
