I'm fairly sure I'll be going to UCSB this fall, but I need to know how the professors are there. My brother and my mom have advised me to go to USC because, aside from just being the better school, professors are more accessible, but I think for an undergraduate, 40,000+ dollars is not worth it. I've heard that the classrooms are in large halls where you can't get help if you're confused...is this true and would you go to USC or UCSB? Thanks.

i want to be a busines major, my appeal letter is being sent to USC as you read this.

USC ALL THE FREAKIN WAY ZELDA!!!

but in reality it really depends on your major and if ucsb has what you are looking for. how strong your major is here compared to usc. stuff like that.

Professors are accessible at UCSB as well. They have office hours and are also very helpful when you drop by their office. Do you seriously want to pay twice the price for a private consultation with your professor which probably would only happen 10 times every school year? Think again...

well, i'm glad to hear that ucsb's professors are accessible, but as i alluded to earlier, usc, by professional consensus, is definitely the more prestigious school. i would not going there on professor ratings alone, believe me. on the other hand, i do realize the relative unimportance of undergraduate school prestige when it comes time to apply to the top graduate schools. as long as you are at a respectable school like ucsb, it is far wiser to aim for the top marks than it is to ride a more prestigious school on name alone with less impressive grades.

that being said, my major will be the biological sciences. i'm not sure about the comparison between usc and ucsb in this field, but i do know that biology is the most popular major at ucsb, according to the Princeton Review (<a href="http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/profiles/generalinfo.asp?listing=1023753<ID=1%5B/url%5D">http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/profiles/generalinfo.asp?listing=1023753<ID=1)

thanks for the replies.
