yes, im in california.
some of my friends are being accepted to uc's at this time of the year.
is it because of elc? i thought that you were notified about that way earlier or does it go on throughout the year?
im scared i wont get accepted anywhere.

agnt007: If you are UC eligible you should be fine. My D was denied at her only UC campus last year but was offered admission at two UCs to which she had not applied: UCR and UCM. I do believe that in spite of the current economic climate any UC eligible student will still be offered a spot somewhere in the system.

I also think elc students are granted automatic admission at several UC campuses and so they can know where they are going sooner than the avg UC applicant. For example I think UCD and UCSC both accept all elc students who apply to their campuses so even though the elc student has not received official word, if they have picked one of those campuses they know where they are going.

Good luck and fingers crossed for you!

Both of my sons were ELC and because of that, received letters that they were accepted into some UCs ahead of time. They received most of the letters in September and early October - before the applications were even done.

I believe the campuses automatically accepting ELC students this year are UCSB, Davis, Merced, Riverside, and Irvine. Berkeley, UCLA and UCSD were not automatic for ELC. My D has already been accepted to Davis.

That would make sense because my son got ELC acceptance letters in Sept./early October to:
Merced, Davis, Irvine and Riverside

Irvine is sending them out, but they are conditional on the major you chose, as many of them are impacted. Our son, who is a Regent Scholar there, was telling us last night that there are only a few majors that aren’t impacted. Luckily, our son that is graduating this year is majoring in Math and it’s not impacted.

For Business Admin. majors, which is very, very selective, they only accepted 100 freshmen in 2008 out of over 4,000 applicants and the average GPA was 4.14. Henry Samueli School of Engineering has similar stats.

Riverside has also issued the first round of acceptances, including those for non-ELC students. But I think most campuses are releasing their decisions mid-March, or late March for UCLA and UCB. Don’t stress, all you can do now is wait.

Yeah I’m still waiting on UCSB and UCSC transfer admissions.

UCSC takes forever! At least they did with my son in 2008. They had such a laid-back attitude about getting out the acceptance letters, it was ridiculous. They said that as long as they were dropped in the mail by March 31st, that was good enough for them!

Each campus does their own thing, but the buzz we heard from UC Berkeley is that if you get the invite to interview for Regents, it’s their equivalent of a likely letter. That buzz was from parents of students who went through this last year, so unless Berkeley has changed their procedure, the kids will walk in to their interview and get a wide smile and congrats from the interviewer.

Is there a website where you can check admissions on line or is this all done via snail mail? Anyone been accepted to UCLA or UC Irvine if you could tell us how you find out, that would be great.

UCI https://www.admissions.uci.edu:8443/cgi-bin/maa_uci.cgi

I’m still waiting to hear back from UCSC and UCM.

many thanks to everyone & smartguy1 for keeping us up to date. good luck to everyone!

really hate this wait. i only applied at two uc’s, uci and ucr, and usc. i am a transfer and older than the average student. i stupidly didn’t apply to cal states as a back up. now freaking out i will have no school next year to transfer to.

man, thats a tough situation. i REALLY hope you get in. believe in the universe and you will not be disappointed. but you have to believe! good luck man. godspeed.
