Ok so I applied to many of the UC’s as an art major and I havent been accepted yet but i was just wondering just how good the art programs are at each institution.
So i know UCLA is a top notch art school and that is definitely at the top of y list. I already applied and submitted my portfolio but i heard that the whole admissions process is extremely competitive and selective. So in case i dont get in but do get accepted to the other UC art programs just how good are they? I applied to UCSB, Berkeley, San Diego, and Irvine. Recently one that i’ve been considering UCSB a lot mainly because of the location. Im a very outdoors type of guy and i love how its right on the beach and not too far from home but far enough ( I live in LA ). I applied to the CCS art major and it sounds like a good program but i just feel like i’d be limited as to the scope of opportunities. I know that they focus more on traditional art, which isn’t too much of a problem for me since I love traditional art; however i also planned on getting really into the design aspect of art to potentially work in film or animation in the future and im not sure if UCSB offers a lot of that.
One reason that I’m really thinking about UCSB is that i recently received an invitation for a reception honoring top applicants. I quickly dismissed this as maybe spam they sent out to anybody but then i really read it and thougt that they wouldnt send this to just anybody so i looked it up. From previous threads i read that those who received it and attended where told at the reception that they were admitted. I dont want to get my hopes up since it didnt actually state that but i kind of took it as an unofficial acceptance. If i do end up getting into CCS could anyone please tell me a little bit more about it and how it is? And also if it would be a good choice to attend for art.
Well anyways what about the art programs at the other schools such as Berkeley, San Diego and Irvine? How are they? And do you think they offer a larger scope in the field of art than just traditional? And since I am also planning on perhaps double majoring in art and film ( my two passion ) how are their film programs as well???
Sorry for all the questions and long post. Im just at that point where im extremely stressed out about the admissions and which school i should consider. Any help or answer would be appreciated, especially if you are extremely familiar with the universities and the art and film programs they offer
Sorry if there are any grammatical errors in this whole post, I was typing extremely fast
