Heeeyyy This is for the current UCSB students

I wanted to know,

how are the classes at UCSB?

Are they small, big or average?

Are they easy to learn from, or so big that it is distracting?

Are the Professors accessible? Classes are overcrowded?

My college counselor just told me to look into these things cause it can be a BIG factor..

So please...enlighten me

Thank you so much!

the classes are HUGE … like hundreds of people
but they aren’t hard, at least not for me because i was blessed with a brain.

are they all huge? dont they have some smaller classes?

Most of the classes are pretty big. At the very least 60-80 people in my experience. many classes have sections though that are only made up of about 15-20 students.

All of UCs are kind of notoriously known for big classes b/c it’s a public school. I recommend you to attend lots of discussion classes for anything you need help. SB will test your ability to be motivated and discipline! But I been told the classes get smaller as classes become more major focused. First two years = GE’s => BIG CLASSES.

ineedhelnow: OR you must have an easy major, try engineering.

i dont think that lectures with lots of students in them are distracting, unless u really really get distracted easily. but it has not been a problem with me at all, things are still managed professionally. i dont think theyre too overcrowded? in the beginnign they seem to be a lot but it gets better and less people come. just dont come into lecture lke 15 minutes late, but even then at times u can still get a seat, even in BIG lecture halls.
