Because dance is taken at the Ann Lacy School of Dance and Entertainment, OCU is able to offer ten (10) different levels in each of the following disciplines: ballet, tap, jazz. So there should be a level suitable to every skill level and levels to aspire to. They also offer specialty classes such as theatre dance.
FYI, my oldest D is at Northwestern. She did HS theatre, but is not majoring in it. Mostly due to the fact that they only take 100 students per year and have a wait list to transfer in. She is a great dancer (14 yrs) and enjoyed taking a dance class last year and is very involved in a NU tap dance group, which is pretty darn good! Lots of theatre majors join dance clubs on campus.
It’s a tough school to get into, especially for theatre-even though it’s non-audition. One parent told me that 60 or the 100 accepted theatre majors went to the summer program (her D included)…not sure if it’s true, but that’s what she said. A backdoor audition program?? Last year 45% of the Freshman class was accepted Early Decision, so if you want NU-apply early!
