Hear some people feel Bursley has the best food on campus. How much of a pain to get to football, BB and Hockey games? Opinions on open mic, music rooms for non-music majors also welcome.

when he’s not studying I expect my S will be playing guitar, drums or piano. Although not a music major (he’s LSA), he’s really into music and his band is finishing their second CD before he comes out to UM. His first music video was just released on MSG Varsity. I expect he will be playing locally there at any open mics, and possibly any clubs that are around. So while Central is really convenient for LSA ( and he’s really gotten into sports recently for some reason), I think Bursley is a good option for him.

I’m an LS&A student and I lived in a double at Bursley last year. I was fine with it, Bursley is a lot better than Baits and the bus rides aren’t too bad as long as you plan ahead to get to classes on time.

There were times where I wished that I lived on Central instead but that was if I obnly had like minutes left until class started or something. The music rooms in Bursley are not that great, people would just walk over to the Music School to practice instead.

The food is not too bad, but people get bored of it eventually. I used to eat at a different hall when I got bored.

It’s still a pretty good hall for meeting people and stuff like that. Just avoid Baits like the plague, and it’s all good

you say avoid Baits…does that go for Northwoods lll as well!!!

Yea, Northwood is just an apartment and really really far away from classes.

Most freshmen will want the regular dorm experience and stuff

I lived in Baits and loved it, and the Northwood apartments are huge which is awesome for students. And Northwood is a 2 minute walk from Bursley and has a bus that picks up right outside of it so its equally as far away, contrary to what SDominator21 says. And sure, most freshman may want what’s considered “normal”…but 70% of freshman are going to be on north campus so I would actually say that is the “normal” for university of Michigan. People often freak out about living on North (myself included, because of sites like this) but I really enjoyed it because I made the most of it. No matter where you are, you can spend time in other places and make friends in your hall.

Lived there last year. The doubles in Bursley are fine do no worry about their size or anything at all. I don’t know anyone that complained about them at all, & markley doubles are smaller. The food is ok, you will probably get bored of eventually, definitely not the best food on campus, most people would say Mojo is best, and I agree. I wouldn’t say avoid Baits like the plague, it’s still decent even though bursley is better. I would say though, avoid Northwood like the plague, especially if you want to make friends/be more social.
