How are the fraternities at NYU? Which ones would you suggest joining?

Looking through the websites of the different fraternities at NYU, all of them use the same sort of language making it hard to discern what type of fraternity is right for me. While I know that I won't know this until I rush, I was wondering if some NYU students can tell me about the reputation that each of the fraternities has on campus.

Try this: [Inside NYU Greek Life](http://insidenyugreeklife.blogspot.com/) It is a tongue and cheek break down I came across linked to in a student paper. Pretty accurate if a little un-PC. Nothing hateful and it includes all the fraternities, not just those in IFC, etc…

Greeklife here is quite pathetic actually. Fraternities here cannot and will not ever compare to frats at ‘typical’ schools. That’s a good thing for some people and frustrates others. Long story short, we have the city as our playground and so the social dynamic is completely different than at a state school or large private rural school. Here, Greeklife is essentially a paid friend circle. You’ll have parties at clubs (you can do this anyway on your own with or without your friends), mixers with other Greek organizations, and access to a house in our Lafayette St. dorm if your frat/sorority is ranked high enough here.

If you want to know about the breakdown of frat vs. frat etc., just look at a site like collegeacb and read all the gossip about each. It’s actually quite accurate.

Well Greek life anywhere is basically a paid friend circle. Greeks are 10% of NYU undergrad population as of this year, so I wouldn’t underestimate it because it does seem to be growing rapidly. I would personally say Pike has the best rep hands down.
