I’ve heard people here tend to be spoiled, preppy, white, and rich. Is this true or exaggerated? How easy is it to make friends? Is the campus overall a friendly one? I guess I just want a little more insight on the overall vibe of the campus.
@bbfan1927 what would you say. My daughter is a sophomore. She’s not super preppy and not spoiled. Her friends are a mixture. Roommates are a real spectrum. Many have on campus jobs and count pennies. The real wealth is the international contingent.
Hey were upset and many crying when they had to leave a few weeks ago. Because they’ll miss their friends.
It’s a warm environment but like anywhere with a bunch of teenagers there’s a bit of freshman drama.
@em0218 Overall the campus is friendly and just like any new setting, it’s the same about making new friends. Just like going to a new high school, camp or sports team. It just takes time to sort out friends and find people you have things in common with. I think people are really friendly. I’m not super outgoing but I’m also not an introvert. I was nervous too about going where none of my high school friends were going and not knowing a single person. It definitely takes time and my sophomore year is better than my freshman, but I don’t think it’s any different than anywhere else. Actually I think BC goes out of their way to bring people together through dorm activities, clubs, intramurals and sporting activities. There’s parties to go to, clubs to participate in, and your typical gym and cafeteria places to hang out. Just be careful your freshman year to not party too much. This happens on every campus. I have friends at UF, northeastern, BU and Clark, and it’s the same thing. Some kids come in and you see every week they get transported because of drinking. My friends are all diverse. Their backgrounds are different, how much money they have is different, and beliefs are different. I don’t think you have to be too worried about rich preppy kids. There’s definitely a lot of rich kids, but they’re not preppy and no different than anyone else. And it doesn’t matter if you have money or not, there’s not a ton to do outside of campus so most stay on and hang out on and around campus. Good luck. Message me if you have any questions. I’m very happy at BC.
