I was accepted to UConn and I'm seriously considering going there. I am curious about the social scene and want to know how the students are. Is it a mostly friendly and fun environment?

The environment is great. It really depends on how you make it. You can join a social fraternity or clubs to meet people…

One thing my friend and I will be doing, is introducing ourselves to every person on our dorm floor and the people in our classes. This way theres a HUGE opportunity to meet people.

Definitely try and take a couple tours at UCONN and ask some of the students.

I think I’m a pretty credible source to listen to due to the fact that my brother attends UCONN and I also have a lot of friends who go there as well.

Though Connecticut has a stereotype of being snobbish and mean, the people at UCONN are SO nice! I’ve been there several time (being a CT resident) and everyone has always been super nice to me. There is a ton of encouragement to join clubs and sports.

Also, if you aren’t huge on a dominant sorority and fraternity life, then UCONN is for you. It does not focus on greek life, but it has a big enough one for people who want it.

The first day of school (move in day), they have this huge barbeque on the main part of campus and everyone talks to everyone! UCONN tries to make its freshman feel comfortable by doing group activities for the first 2-3 days. So, if you are scared that you won’t make friends, don’t worry.

If you have any other questions, don’t be afraid to PM me :)

Hope I Helped!
