How are the Studio Art or Creative Writing Program?

Hello,
My daughter is leaning pretty heavy towards UW for next year after a few visits. One thing we have not had a chance to do yet is visit specific departments that she is considering majoring in. Since spring break is this week, we are hoping to go there next week to see what the Studio Art and Creative Writing departments are like.

Mainly I am looking for feedback ahead of time as to how these 2 areas compare to what you might see a a smaller LAC such as Grinnel, Beloit, Lawrence, etc...... and also just how they are overall.

From some things I have read and looking at the UW websites, they seem to have nice programs in these areas, but they get overshadowed by all the larger great departnments in the sciences, business, math, etc....... the research programs too.

Whats your thoughts?

Thanks

DJD

Both are smaller but very good. Studio art just got a new facility and is best known for printmaking and glass art.
